Mindful Mondays: Ray LaMontagne

Each Monday, I would like to share a reminder about the importance of being mindful.  These will come from literature, popular culture, music--anywhere one might get this sort of everyday life nudge.

If you like Jack Johnson, you'll likely also enjoy Ray LaMontagne.

Today's feature is a song entitled "Be Here Now," by Ray LaMontagne, from his 2006 'Till the Sun Turns Black album.

The lyrics from AZLyrics are as follows:

"Be Here Now" by Ray LaMontagne

Don't let your mind get weary and confused
Your will be still, don't try
Don't let your heart get heavy child
Inside you there's a strength that lies Don't let your soul get lonely child
It's only time, it will go by
Don't look for love in faces, places
It's in you, that's where you'll find kindness

Be here now, here now
Be here now, here now

Don't lose your faith in me
And I will try not to lose faith in you
Don't put your trust in walls
'Cause walls will only crush you when they fall

Be here now, here now
Be here now, here now
Beyond the obvious "be here now" repeated throughout, the song speaks of mindfulness and developing awareness of your strengths--the strength of your mind, heart, soul, love, faith, and trust.  I like the song and I love his voice.  If you like this one, you might want to check out his other stuff--his music is pretty amazing.
