Each Monday, I would like to share a reminder about the importance of being mindful. These will come from literature, popular culture, music--anywhere one might get this sort of everyday life nudge.
Today's Mindful Monday reminder is from As a Man Thinketh
, a literary essay from 1902. Allen's work is loosely based on the biblical proverb, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."
Although much of what we discuss here at Making Mindfulness has to do with your experience and your actions, thoughts are an enormous aspect of our lives--one which we all should carefully consider. Making mindfulness of thoughts a priority will improve your life by improving your self-esteem, your relationships with others, and the way you view your world. You have the ability to see, want, and expect positive outcomes when you make positive thoughts a priority.
"You cannot escape the results of your thoughts. Whatever your present environment may be, you will fall, remain or rise with your thoughts, your vision, your ideal. You will become as small as your controlling desire; as great as your dominant aspiration." - James Allen
